In 1997 Astral Phoenix started throwing legendary parties in London. In this time the chill-out was a place to relax and socialize. Compared to the prolific dancefloor, good for flying in top international trance artists, you had to be creative to find your way around the budget.

Louise Gandolfi took on this challenge and directed the downtempo zone from an obscure, moist sideshow to one of the main attractions in SE One, one of the hottest clubs in the UK, as part of the Synergy Project. Her love for electronic downtempo music and the lack of ambient resources also drew her into mixing music herself.
